Here is a tech highlight from Baldwin ES:
Baldwin elementary school has recently used it’s reserve money to purchase another bag of Classroom Performance System (CPS) units, along with a laptop and projector. Teachers have begun receiving training on the CPS, learning how to implement them into their everyday curriculum. Teachers are very excited about the variety of lessons that can be developed for the CPS, and the children absolutely love using them. Children have actually said that they would rather take a test with the CPS units then to have recess!
Alpha Smarts continue to be used on many grade levels to help with keyboarding and with the writing process. Children love writing stories because they get to type them themselves, then create a book for their classroom libraries. Recently a school wide contest was held for a rhyming book contest, and many students typed their original rhyming stories onto the alpha smarts, then printed them out and illustrated them.
Several folders that were located on the Baldwin network have recently been reorganized to make life a little easier for the teachers! Testing items, evaluation forms, character education materials, multi cultural ideas, etc. are available and can easily be accessed.
Teachers across the grades continue to use technology in their classrooms, integrating it into the core subject areas. The computer lab teacher has done a wonderful job working with the older students to help them create their science projects for the upcoming science fair. The children were able to complete most of the steps required in the computer lab.
